Montreal Dragon Boat Challenge & Chinese Cultural festival

The Montreal Challenge is one of the most notorious dragon-boat event in North America with more than 150 teams coming from the Maritimes provinces, Quebec, Ontario and the Unites-States of America. Included in the dragon-boat agenda since 2008, the Montreal Challenge has built its good reputation throughout the years on the quality of the racing organisation, the competitive level as well as the festive atmosphere. Come live the experience of an international event gathering teams from every level on the one of a kind Montreal Olympic bassin.
In partnership with MCCAF, the Montreal dragon-boat Challenge highlights the cultural contribution brought to dragon-boat by the Chinese culture. Over two days of competition, participants and spectators will be fully immersed in Chinese culture with many performances by artists from China and Montreal.

Divisions & CATEGORIES
1. Sport Division
Dragon Boat Canada rules of racing will apply for the Sport division.

The boats used in the Small Boat category are 10-person boats.

Race format
Sport DIVISION (Standard and Small boat):
- 2 x 500m
- 1 x 200m
- 1 x 2000m (turns at 500m)
Community DIVISION (Standard boat):
- 2 x 500m
- 1 x 200m
- 1 x 2000m (turns at 500m)

1. Registration fees Sport Division
- Standard boat (20) Mixed / Women / Open: 1350$ plus taxes
- Small boat (10) Mixed / Women / Open: 900$ plus taxes

- Standard boat (20) Mixed / Women / Open: 1350$ plus taxes
Race Schedule
The race schedule will be available a few days before the event. All participants will receive an e-mail when the schedule is available.
Medals
500m and 200m: medals for all finals (bronze, silver, gold). The medal ceremony will take place right after each 500m and 200m final.
2000m: gold medals for all finals (GOLD only for the 2000m, no silver or bronze). No official medal ceremony for the 2000m races. Team captains of winning teams will be called to the marshalling area a few minutes after each 2000m races to get the team medals.

Direction – Parking – Metro
The event takes place at Parc Jean Drapeau on the Olympic Basin in Montreal.
Important points to know: The basin is located on Île Notre-Dame in Parc Jean Drapeau. The parking lot directly adjacent to the basin is P2.
Parking P2:
The parking fee is $25 per day including taxes. Parking fees are the entire responsibility of the Parc Jean Drapeau Society. We would like to point out that Mission Dragon Boat does not receive any rebate on the revenues generated by the parking fees. Parc Jean Drapeau Metro, yellow lane:
Accessible by public transport : metro Jean-Drapeau station on the yellow line. There is no shuttle service between the Jean-Drapeau subway station and the competition site (1.1km distance). See google map.
